Fans of speedway on the Island not only get to cheer on their Warriors, but also the 'Wightlink Wizards' team taking part in the Midland & Southern Development League (M+SDL).
The Wizards team consists of a squad of 6 riders.  All are either based on the Island, or are students of the My First Skid Speedway School (MFS).  Each meeting takes place directly after selected Warriors meetings, and feature 4 riders from the squad, competing in 6 heats against other teams from the mainland in the M+SDL for a total of 12 meetings, 6 home and 6 away.

CURRENT WIZARDS SQUAD RIDERS

BEN ILSLEY (CAPTAIN): 26/12/1988 : PARK GATE, NEAR FAREHAM

No stranger to racing on oval circuits, Ben swaps 14 years of racing experience on the grass to race speedway after only a short time on the shale.  A MFS student, this Wizard has invested heavily to make sure he is fully prepared when he lines up at the tapes.  Ben said "I give 100% in everything I do whether it’s
scoring points or helping a teammate.  We have a
great team and we sure do have a lot of fun on and
off track."  Ben is sponsored by Giles Dismore of Red
Spanner Racing who has been supporting him
throughout his grasstrack racing, and Sean of Diverso
Accountants Limited.

JAMIE SEALEY : 06/07/1989 : BASINGSTOKE, HAMPSHIRE

Having represented the Warriors in the 2017 & 2018 National League season, Jamie has also ridden for the Exeter 'Falcons' in the SDL.  Having now gained plenty of experience in both league levels, Jamie looks to score big points from the front, whilst passing on his experience to the other Wizard riders.
Focused, determined, upbeat and a firm fans
favourite on the Island, Jamie seeks to continue
his improvement as a Wizard.

JAMES LUCKMAN : 04/10/1975 : SHANKLIN, ISLE OF WIGHT

James joined the Wizards not only as a MFS student and Islander, but father to young Charlie, one of the Warriors Mascots.  Having ridden speedway for 11 years now, he is loves the new challenge as a racing Wizards.  James said "Being selected for the Wizards for me is about being part of the team and having the
opportunity to develop as a rider.  I also want to
support the team in whichever way I can.  Winning is
important, but the concept of development for
everyone is the name of the game.  I for one never
thought I would have an opportunity like this to be
part of a great club."

CHRIS WATTS : 12/06/1990 : CHARING, KENT

Chris commenced his racing at 14 years old after trying speedway at Eastbourne where he learned to gate, slide and avoid a fallen rider by laying the bike down.  Moving onto the grass, he progressed onto the 350cc class, whilst partaking in the 500cc class  occasionally.  After taking a few years out, he made
his comeback in 2017, racing for Milton Keynes in
the MDL.  He is a regular at MFS and had a solid first
SDL season with the Wizards.  Chris would like to
thank Martyn Smith from MPS body and paint,
Mum, Dad, Pete, Rob and girlfriend Charley.

MORGAN WILLIAMS : 05/01/1998 : RYDE, ISLE OF WIGHT

A true 'newbee' to the speedway scene, Morgan watched his first meeting (Warriors) in 2016 and has been hooked ever since.  An important member of the track staff on race nights, Morgan swaps his track 'rake' for his bike and puts his MFS training to the test.  Both an Islander and a regular MFS student, Morgan
relishes the challenge of racing on the biggest track
in the country.  "A dream come true" in his own
words, "especially after such a short time riding
speedway."  The Island fans sure do raise their
voices when 'one of their own' takes to the track.

CHAD WIRTZFELD : 21/08/2003 : POOLE, DORSET

Chad joins the Wizards at the age of 15, and at the same time as joining the Warriors in their reserve berth.  A constant regular at MFS, and has already competed regularly abroad on both the shale and grass.  It's going to be a big year for Chad as he looks to begin his journey as a professional speedway rider,
and riding for the Wizards will give him the all
important extra competitive track time.  He has
already impressed on the Smallbrook track as a
mascot, now he looks to continue his development
and put major points on the board for the Wizards.
