Warriors v Cradley Take 2 This Week

It will be another bumper programme of shale track action this Thursday (31st August) at Smallbrook as the Wightlink Warriors speedway team meet the Cradley Heathens for the second time this season in a fifteen-heat team meeting with the home side looking to overturn a two-point deficit from the first encounter early in July. The winners on aggregate will receive The Vince Mapley Memorial Trophy.

Both sides will be operating the Rider Replacement facility as the Warriors will be without Brayden McGuinness whilst the Heathens will be missing Connor Coles.

Wightlink Warriors will reward local rider Morgan Williams with an opportunity to race for the senior side and he will be joined by Arran Butcher, George Congreve, Ben Morley and Jake Turner and they will be up against a strong visiting side who have recruited Paul Starke, Steve Boxall, and Stefan Nielsen to spearhead their line-up with backing from Jason Garrard and one other to be confirmed.

Supporting the main event this week will be eight racers competing over six heats bringing back to sights, sounds and smells of yesteryear as they pilot their treasured JAP machines towards the Nora Championship. Add in another four heats from the Flat Track riders and all the usual pre-meeting demonstration races, terrace fans will be able to delight in over thirty heats in the Warriors penultimate meeting of the 2023 season.

As usual, gates will open at 5:15pm, with the main event preceded at 6:15pm with the demonstrations. The Warriors will get under way at 7:00pm.

The club are always happy to receive good luck messages or dedications to be read out during the course of the meeting and this can best be done by logging on to the Warriors website (www.warriorsspeedway.com) scrolling to the bottom of the page and filling in the template available there.
