Warriors Say No To National League 2022 But Full NORA Programmed Planned

The Wightlink Warriors will not be joining the NDL in 2022 and despite the club management engaging with the British Speedway Promoters (BSPL) to fully understand the joining terms of the NDL for 2022, no application was submitted. After reviewing the terms of joining, and given the Warriors late entry into discussions, plus the unique challenges to run speedway on an Island, the management felt that circumstances were not right for the Isle of Wight to return to the NDL in 2022 and the club shall continue to stage shale track racing under the NORA banner next season.

The club's management hope they can continue the discussion with the BSPL and look for a possible league return in 2023, providing it is right for both parties. Wightlink Warriors co-owner Barry Bishop commented, “We know that many fans off the island have missed their trips to us this year and this news will obviously be a disappointment for some of them, but we can assure them - and our fans - that the intention for 2022 is to stage a series of events, even more exciting than our successful 2021 season, which we believe the fans will embrace and relish”.
