Meeting Preview - Warriors v Plymouth (NT) & Wizards v Exeter (MDSL)

This Thursday's action will feature twenty one heats of fast and furious on track combat as the Wightlink Warriors take on Plymouth Gladiators in the National Trophy with the Wightlink Wizards trying to ground the Exeter Falcons in the Midland & South Development League.

Keen to build on last week’s very encouraging win over Mildenhall, the Warriors tackle newly re-branded Plymouth who will track no fewer than four former Warriors, all of whom will be keen to show their former paymasters a thing or two. Unfortunately the visitors will be forced to travel without charismatic Richard Andrews who is side-lined with a foot injury; however in Ben Wilson, Nathan Stoneman and Scott Campos they have plenty of top end fire power, not to mention Jamie Bursill who could prove influential at reserve.

Warriors have no injury concerns and with last week giving the new riders chance to acclimatise, the home side go into this meeting looking to build on the all round team performance shown against the Fen Tigers and they will be especially keen to get back to winning ways following an encouraging yet ultimately unsuccessful meeting at Mildenhall last Sunday where the Warriors were right in the match before missing out in the final two heats.

In addition to the Wightlink Warriors, the Wightlink Wizards will have their first home outing of the season in the Midland & Southern Development League with a strong Exeter side sure to test the home quartet during their six heat meeting.

Warrior’s co-promoter Barry Bishop said, “We’ve got another great nights racing and off-track fun coming up this week with a packed programme to get through. Although we slipped up towards the end of our match at Mildenhall I was delighted by the attitude of our riders and there can be no doubting that they all did their best. If we keep that level of commitment going we’ll be well place to go for another home win and I’ll be double thrilled if the Wightlink Wizards start with a home victory as well.

And don’t forget our new age related promotion. This week anyone who is 55 will be admitted to the stadium as our guest free of charge on production of proof of age and it’s not just one person, it’s for anyone – friends or family – who’s age is 55. I’m looking forward to meeting these new found friends and showing them what a super thing we have going with the Wightlink Warriors and Wizards every week.”
