Within hours of the announcement that the 'Wightlink' Wizards are planning a track return in 2018 in the Southern Development League, two supporters have quickly stepped forward to become the team's first official sponsors. On the back of a very successful association with the 'Wightlink' Warriors in 2017, Stu and Jack Clelland, the speedway mad father and son duo from Portsmouth, have generously offered to fund the fuel costs for the Wizards quartet at each of the sides home meetings.
Stu Clelland said, "Jack and I have been heat sponsors for the Warriors in the past and thought it would be great to be part of the new 'Wightlink' Wizards by sponsoring their fuel for home matches. We have watched all the rider’s progression over the last year or so through the My First Skid speedway school that takes place at the Andrew Younie Stadium all year. Now we are even more excited and can't wait for the season to start and be part of the 2018 adventure."
The Wizards Commercial Director Barry Bishop added, "To have the fuel sponsorship of the 'Wightlink' Wizards already in place before we have announced any rider signings is a great testament to the feeling and support for the Wizards from the Isle of Wight and the Warriors' fans. I think this initial sponsorship is going to be just the start of a raft of support for these My First Skid students, who will now take their first step in to racing with the team representing the Isle of Wight. We are incredibly proud of this achievement with the Wizards already. I would like to thank Stu and Jack Clelland for their amazing support of the 'Wightlink' Wizards and I know each and every rider will appreciate their help. Stu and Jack, welcome to the 'Wightlink' Wizards 2018."
