Widman's A Warrior Again

The Warriors are wasting no time recruiting their 2019 outfit with news today that Chris Widman has signed-on as the fourth rider in the Island line-up for the new season.

Twenty eight year old Widman, son of Warriors co-promoter Martin Widman, has a strong following at the Andrew Younie Smallbrook Stadium and continues to enjoy generous sponsorship from businesses and individuals both on the Island and on the mainland.

By his own admission, 2018 was laced with several disappointments starting when The Beast from the East decimated early season practice and fixtures. Combine this with a very busy time with his off-track business and a badly broken wrist and it is easy to see why his match average fell to a disappointingly low 3.32 per meeting, however the Loughborough based butcher is adamant that he can reverse last season’s bad luck and build his scores back to previous levels.

Warriors co-promoter Barry Bishop said, “Chris is our fourth signing and we are well aware that he had a tough season in 2018. That said, Chris is an experienced rider – in fact he will be the oldest member of the side – and with a deceptively low average I’m sure he can kick on and secure vital points for us from a second string berth. I’m looking forward to seeing a refreshed ‘Widders’ in amongst the points”.

Chris gave us his reaction to today's news.
