Meeting Result - Colts 58 v Warriors 32 (NL)

The Warriors penultimate league meeting of the season at the National Speedway Stadium in Manchester was always going to be a tough one and so it proved as the home side used all of their local track knowledge to race to a twenty six point victory.

The Colts, making a late charge for a play-off spot, were still smarting from their early season defeat on the Island and fully extracted revenge with a dominant display built on a rock solid team performance with just one last place as a result of a fall.

Warriors, without Alfie Bowtell and Ben Morley, used Danny Ayres (Mildenhall) and Jason Edwards (Eastbourne) as guest riders and it was the Suffolk man who took the fight to the Colts ending up with a splendid fourteen point haul that included four wins from his five rides.

Directly after the meeting Warriors boss Barry Bishop said, “We came here expecting a very tough night and got one. The Colts boys are really quick round here and deserved their win and whilst we kept plugging away we had to give second best and we must now prepare to finish our fixtures at Eastbourne a week tomorrow. It looks like we will again need guests for Alfie and Ben so Jackie’s in for a busy weekend on the phone”.

Colts: Ben Wilson 8+1, Ben Woodhull 4+1, Tom Perry 10+3, Joe Lawlor 9, Jack Smith 13, Paul Bowen 8+3, Kean Dicken 6.

Warriors: Danny Ayres 14, Danno Verge 3, Scott Campos 6, Chris Widman 1, Jason Edwards 5, Dale Lamb 2, Shaun Tedham 1.
