Morley And Campos Hurt On A Bad Night For Warriors

Friday, May 25, 2018

Whilst the Kent Kings were making light of the Warriors in last night’s National Trophy speedway fixture, news started to filter through that star man Ben Morley had been taken to hospital whilst racing for his Championship club Lakeside at Redcar.

Apparently Morley was forced into the air fence by a Redcar rider who lost control of his machine and at first it was thought that Morley had suffered a broken right wrist, however overnight hospital examination has revealed a bad dislocation with tendon and muscle damage.

Scott Campos was also in the wars as he took a second bend tumble in heat three of the Kent meeting and was forced out of the meeting with a damaged shoulder. News this morning is that Campos reports that he feels like he’s been hit with a baseball bat but fortunately nothing is broken and the shoulder is back in place properly. He’s now waiting for the inevitable painfulness and swelling to ease and will be resting up.

Best wishes go to both Warriors for speedy recoveries and also to number eight Jamie Sealey following his nasty fall in the second half event at Birmingham on Wednesday which left him with a broken nose as well as injuries and burns to his right side.

With a fixture at Kent coming up on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon, team manager Jackie Vatcher will be working overtime to bring together a competitive Warriors line up for the return match.

For Morley it is going to be a big repair bill. Having blown an engine in heat 15 at Birmingham on Wednesday night, there is little to salvage from the second machine after last night’s incident. This highlights that speedway is a very expensive sport and the returns rarely match the outlays.  Any supporter who would like to help Ben, Scott, Jamie or any of the Warriors riders are asked to contact the club via email to speedwayontheisland@yahoo.co.uk
