Warriors Swoop To Capture Former Favourite

With the structure of the 2020 National League now clearly defined, the Warriors management have moved swiftly to deliver an early Christmas present for their faithful followers by swooping to secure the signature of former favourite Connor Coles.

Twenty five year old Coles returns to the Island after two seasons away, last year racing for Edinburgh in the Championship whilst successfully doubling up with Stoke in the National League where his closing match average was a very handy 7.43. If other team building plans come to fruition, Coles will be the second heat leader in the Warriors side.

Smallbrook fans will recall that it was Coles winning ride for Stoke in the final heat of last season’s National League Fours that scuppered Warrior’s title hopes, a fact not lost on co-promoter Barry Bishop who said, “Following the AGM our team building plans are well advanced and I am delighted to welcome back Connor Coles as the first name on our team sheet. With the sad loss of Stoke speedway at the end of last season, it was clear that several of their riders would be in demand and we had to move quickly to secure his services. We know only too well how determined Connor can be and I have to say that during our negotiations, he has been a pleasure to deal with. I know he can’t wait to meet up with our supporters who have fond memories of his past time with us. He joins us on an attractive average and I am excited to think about how much he can improve in the new season”.

Connor Coles added, “I’m really happy to be offered a place with the Warriors. Things have been a bit uncertain since the end of the season so I’m relieved to be on board for 2020 and I’ll be doing everything to meet and exceed expectations. It would be good if the team could get some silverware back to the Island and personally I want to push on and challenge for the number one jacket. The fans have always made myself and my family very welcome on the Island so it would be great to deliver success for all those who been great to us”.
