BIOGRAPHY
From an early age helping his father in the family workshop in Leszno, Poland,
Krzysztof Kasprzak knew that he only wanted to race speedway bikes. Not only was he inspired by his father’s own successful international racing career, but he was also
lucky to gain vital first hand experience from sharing the speedway pit areas with
World Champions Hans Nielsen and Tony Rickardsson. He started riding long before
he could hold a professional licence, and was an immediate success by the time he
made his professional debut in 2001.
By his 18th birthday he had already won Poland’s Silver and Bronze Helmet
competitions and had qualified for the finals of the FIM World U21
Championship. And after winning the UEM European Individual Speedway
Championship crown in 2002, it wasn’t too long before he attracted the
attention of the leading clubs in the world’s most competitive speedway
leagues.
Krzysztof made his British racing debut with the Poole Pirates in 2003,
helping the South Coast club win the Elite League Championship, BSPA Knock Out Cup and the British League Cup. Since that time he has continued to show his passion for winning and is now considered one of the world’s leading speedway racers.
A quick look at his racing profile shows just how successful he is on the world stage, producing gold medal performances across the globe. Early career highlights included winning the 2005 FIM World U21 Individual Championship, and finishing second in the 2014 FIM World Individual Championship.
Since then he has matured into an all round performer in the Speedway Grand Prix and European championship events. He has also helped Poland to win the Speedway World Cup on no fewer than five separate occasions in the past nine years.
2016 was a hard but successful season, with him involved with three of the top European league clubs while also competing in the prestigious European Individual Championship series. He finished the year by helping the Stal Gorzow side win the Polish Extraliga title, while taking the bronze medal in the European Championship. The highlight of his year came in the FIM Speedway World Cup final when he was a member of the Gold Medal winning Polish national side, all of which led to him being nominated for his country’s Sportsman of the Year award, a title he had previously won in 2014.
2017 saw Krzysztof line up for the Poole Pirates who race in the SGB Premiership, the top echelon of British domestic speedway. No stranger to the South Coast club, Krzysztof was looking forward to further glory this time around, having previously helped them to win three Elite League Championships. However, after a tough run of form in the UK, Krzysztof was stood down at Poole, only to be snapped up by the Rye House Rockets in the same division who just lost out on a play off position for the league title. Although his Polish club Gorzow lost out in the semi finals of the Polish Extraliga, Krzysztof help his team to the Bronze medal and soon turned his focus towards the last round of the prestigious SEC European Individual Championships. Krzysztof ended his season on a massive high, storming to an impressive round 4 win in Lublin, moving him up the rankings finishing in 4th position overall.
Although by Krzysztof's standards 2017 was a tough year on track, his second half of the season form coupled with his fantastic win in Lublin put Krzysztof back front and centre in the minds of all the league promoters around the world. Re-signing for both Gorzow and Rye House, Krzysztof started as he finished 2017, and quickly became the points powerhouse for his teams. Unfortunately, halfway through the season his British club Rye House pulled out of the league and folded, leaving him to focus on his PGE Polish league club Gorzow, who went on to finish runners up in the league play off finals. Just before the completion of the season, Krzysztof headed to Sweden for the Elitserien play off finals, replacing the injured Patryk Dudek in the Dackarna outfit, who also finished runners up in the league.
The 2019 season saw Krzysztof once again lining up to represent Gorzow in the PGE Polish league for the 8th consecutive season, along with racing for Lejonen in the Swedish Elitserien league. Whilst a steady season for Krzysztof personally, Gorzow found themselves at the foot of the table upon completion of the regular league campaign but successfully won the relegation/promotion battle to retain their place in the PGE Ekstraliga in 2020. Lejonen fared better, finishing mid table making it to the play off quarter finals. On a personal ending to the season, Krzysztof won the Polish Golden Helmet meeting with a 15 point maximum, which also secured him a place in the GP and SEC qualifiers in 2020.
Krzysztof once again takes his place in the Gorzow team in the PGE Polish league for the 2020 season, along with rejoining his Swedish team Lejonen in the Swedish Elitserien league. Pre-season training has, amongst other activities, taken him to the ski slopes with his team mates, as they prepare for another gruelling league campaign towards team silverware whilst also keeping his focus fully on the GP and SEC Qualifiers for his personal goals.
